Riviera Maya Tours

The Riviera Maya is one of the most popular travel destinations in the entire Yucatan Peninsula, and probably even entire Mexico. This 75-mile coastal region stretches from the Mexican Caribbean to the south easternmost part of the Yucatan Peninsula. Of course, the weather is ideal for travel and there are beautiful sandy beaches with crystal clear sea waters. Aside from those things, the place is teeming with birds and other wildlife. If you enjoy leaning more about archaeology and adventure then the Riviera Maya will suit you well.

There are four large eco parks along the Mayan Riviera. Here in Mexico, the conservation is provided by the community, who in turn help to develop tourism. The profit earned from commercializing helps the conservation projects. Many enterprises conduct businesses on the Mayan Riviera to make it convenient for tourists.

The Mexican Wildlife

When it comes to striking wildlife, Mexico is one of the most blessed countries in the world. Home to some of the rarest species of animals, the tropical forests of Mexico provides shelter to many indigenous land and marine animals.

The Mexican wildlife includes bears, wolves, monkeys, snakes, iguanas, and tapirs; all wandering around the forest day and night. Mexico's tourist attractions also includes beautiful aquatic scenery and fascinating coral reeves for divers. Tourists and travelers can enjoy spending time marveling over the most splendid water animals like whales, sharks, turtles, and swordfishes. Giant manta rays with over fifteen foot wing span and friendly dolphins can also be seen outside the surf line of Santiago Bay, this attracting thousands of vacationers from around the world.

The Mayan civilization was very advanced for its time, and had great knowledge of astronomy, geometry and last but not least – ways to measure the time. Many experts in the fields of astronomy, mathematics and other sciences find the way the Maya used to calculate time periods unique.

The essentials of their calendar system were similar to other calendar systems found in the same region of the world by other Mesoamerican civilizations, dating as far back in time as the fifth century BC.

Crocodiles of Cozumel

The beautiful island of Cozumel, once sacred to the Maya Moon Goddess, Ix Chel, became a place of refuge for 17th century pirates. More recently, Cozumel was a place of agriculture, the fishing hundreds of tropical fish, and hunting crocodiles.

American Crocodiles, Crocodylus acutus, have claimed their home in many of the fresh or brackish waters of river estuaries, coastal lagoons, mangrove swamps and wetlands. They have also been known to inhabit shallow areas such as ponds and creeks. Living throughout Southern Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, some thousand of these carnivores also take up residence in areas of southern Florida.
