Sian Ka'an Adventures

Sian kaan

Those who decide to take the adventures that nature offers in Sian Ka’an can expect to see lots of coconut mangroves. They encompass large areas of Sian Ka’an, though 1200 different types of vegetation do exist. It’s not the vegetation of Sian Ka’an’s nature that commits most of the hunting though, it’s the five large cats that live among the grounds. The stealthy and silent jaguar, margay, ocelot, as well as the agile puma, are the most dangerous of the fast moving ground predators.

Sian Ka'an Jaguars and Tapirs

The nature of the Sian Ka’an jaguar doesn’t make it look like the classic dark black jaguar. Nature has made the Sian Ka’an jaguar’s markings look more closely like a cheetah. Only the jaguar is much heavier, stronger, and made for the jungle not the plain.

A mammal that Sian Ka’an has become famous for are the Tapirs. In the Sian Ka’an nature reserve the Tapir has been put on the endangered species list. The Tapir’s numbers have decreased just short of 50% over the last three decades. Watch them live and love life as they recover in safety.

Flamengo's

One of the most delicate and elegant tropical birds living in the Sian Ka’an nature reserve is the greater flamingo. The classic dark pink flamingo that is so famous in nature pictures and videos. The greater flamingo of Sian Ka’an nature reserve is among the most beautiful animals in the world. This is just one of the many types of bird that the nature lover will see on their tour through Sian Ka’an nature reserve.
