Deep Jungle Biking Tour

Deep Jungle Biking Tour is ideal for all adventure seekers out there. This is a 9-day tour which leaves from Playa del Carmen, Mexico and requires high physical demand.

This exciting 9-day tour commences and ends in the Mexican Caribbean and travels through parts of Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. In this tour, you have the chance to visit the impressive Cenote Azul of Mexico and get to experience an amazing adventure in Belize.

The 4-day off road bicycle adventure through Tikal’s National Park (located in the center of the Mayan jungle) in Guatemala is the highlight of this tour. In this bicycle adventure tour, you will get to explore 55 miles of rarely used jungle paths, visit and camp at Uaxactun and Xultun which are remote Mayan sites. Being in the middle of ancient pyramids and lush jungle would be indeed a truly unique experience.

Day 1: Travel to Bacalar, visit Cenote Azul

In Playa Del Carmen, we meet as a group and we will ride a first-class bus for 5 hours to travel south to Bacalar. We will spend the rest of the day swimming in Bacalar´s Cenote Azul, a 90 meter deep clear blue water cenote which one of the most impressive cenotes. Bacalar was once a vital defense point during the Spanish occupation.

Day 2: Travel to Tikal National Park

In the second day of the tour, we will go to Tikal, Guatemala which is one of the most impressive Mayan archaeological sites. This very well preserved ruins has become an increasingly popular attraction in Guatemala as it is surrounded by lush jungle. At the top of the temples you can get an incredible view of the sunset and sunrise where you cannot find anywhere else in the world. We will camp in the Tikal Park’s campground which is close by the entrance of Tikal’s archeological site.

Day 3: Visit Tikal, including guided tour, travel to Uaxactun

This day, we will have a great guided tour to the Tikal Ruins and National Park. We will climb the highest pyramid of Tikal and enjoy the Mayan jungle’s spectacular views where you will also see exotic wildlife in abundance.

Day 4: Cycle to Xultun and camp

We will proceed into the jungle to a small community called Uaxactún through cycling. Then right after lunch we will explore the ruins of Uaxactún. The site offers a special feeling which can only be experienced one you set your foot on the site.

Day 5: Explore Xultun ruins

On the fifth day of our journey, we will be preparing for Xultun adventure. We will cycle 22 miles going to the jungle to reach the remote Mayan site of Xultun, Guatemala. Though this trip is physically demanding yet this offers an exciting experience especially if we may hit points where we have to carry the bikes through impenetrable paths. There is an aguada or what we call fresh water pool near Xultun. This is a great source for clean water and an excellent spot to camp.

Day 6: Explore San Bartolo ruins

We will spend the day exploring the ruins of Xultun and spend the night for a well deserved rest. These excavated ruins are rarely visited seeing that the jungle is slowly taking over the place. To clear the trails to Xultun ruins we may need to make use of machetes or knives. This experience will give you the chance to see abundant flora and fauna.

Day 7: Cycle to Uaxactún, sleep in Remate

On the seventh day we are going to cycle back to Uaxactún and proceed to El Remate, a small eco-tourism village which is found on the shores of Lake Peten Itzá. Visit and see local forest-saving woodcarvers whose carvings are remarkable genuine Mayan masks and animals. To end the day great, we will enjoy a mouth-watering cuisine in one of the local restaurants and check-in to our typical limestone cabañas by the shore of the lake.

Day 8: Travel to Belize, cave tour, transfer to Corozal

We are going to rise early and cross the border going to the Cayo District of Belize where Belize cave tour awaits. The Cayo District is known for its rich jungle, rivers and caves. We will have lunch right after the cave tour and we will travel to Corozal in the northern Belize and spend the night there.

Day 9: Travel to the Riviera Maya, Mexico

We will cross the Belize – Mexico border and travel up the Riviera Maya, where, depending on departure schedules, we can travel around coastal ruins and unspoiled beaches of Tulum, scuba dive in the world famous reefs of Cozumel, or go round in Playa Del Carmen or Cancun.
