Chetumal is a great place to relax. Aside from window shopping, walking around and seeing a few very old log houses, one of the best things to do is to visit the Chetumal Museum; a local museum which makes an excellent starting point to learn more about the Mayan culture. This museum is modern and innovative with interactive exhibits, models of most Yucatan sites, Mayan Ruins all decorated around a jungle theme. The nicest thing is, you can learn about the Maya calendar and their glyphs via touch screen computers.
Replicas of stelae and murals are also displayed in the museum.
