If you want to see one of the world’s travel wonder then Tikal won’t disappoint you. Many people believed that Tikal is one of the most spiritually powerful spots in the world. Tikal site is immense and has towering pyramids which stands out of the thick jungle canopy.

During the Mayan civilization, 100,000 people inhabited the area of Tikal and it was once a wealthy metropolis. The great Jaguar clan Lords are in the seat of power.  

Many archeologists from all over the world are attracted to Tikal and nature lovers find the place interesting as it is filled with abundant wildlife. UNESCO declared Tikal as a Heritage of Humanity owing to its importance and magnificent combination of nature, wildlife and archeological remains.

The ruins of Tikal are a must-see and explore. It was around 600 B.C that the ancient Maya began building Tikal. The area was an important religious, scientific, and political center after 1500 years.  There are more than 3,000 structures in the ruins of Tikal which extends over six square miles which include palaces, ball courts, ceremonial platforms, temples, plazas, terraces, avenues as well as steam baths.

The ancient Mayan city of Tikal is found in Tikal National Park, it is where squawking parrots and howler monkeys can be found providing a natural soundtrack to visitors.  Animals which you can commonly encounter in this national park are ocelots, parrots, scarlet macaws, toucans, brocket deer, ocellated turkeys as well as coati-mundis.  If you are lucky, you may also spot a jaguar roaming around.  That is why it is best to have a professional travel guide to ensure your safety. Tropical flowers are also in abundance in the area.

Flores is a charming town because of the pastel-colored buildings in the area, a great place to visit and enjoy a scenic setting on Lake Petén Itza.  Located 30 minutes away from the National Park’s entrance, it a nice place to check out not to mention that it serves as a gateway to travel around the immediate area.

Many travels adored the beauty of Tikal. It is a spectacular site to visit as there are loads of temples to climbs and amazing views to enjoy.  Moreover, it is one of the best places to enjoy nature and see many different flora and fauna. Exploring the park can give a great experience. An overnight trip will be best to see and enjoy much of area has to offer.
