Sian Ka’an Multisport Adventure Pictures

If you plan to spend your holidays engaging in a fascinating adventure then Sian Ka’an multisport adventure would be the best choice.  Sian Ka’an biosphere reserve can be found in the Tulum. This is one of the largest protected mangrove swamps and wetlands in Mexico.  The name Sian Ka’an means "place where the sky is born" and “where the sky begins”.

Sian Ka'an: a combination of wildlife and fantastic activities

Kayaking in wetlands, hiking through sand dunes and jungle as well as swimming and snorkeling in a wonderful cenote are among the exciting activities you can look forward to engage in Sian Ka’an multisport adventure tour.  Not only you will enjoy a combination of multiple outdoor activities but at the same time you will learn about the different eco-systems of Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and the importance of sustainability.

The Sian Ka'an Eco-system

In the year 1987, the reserve was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Moreover it is the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean, holding more than 100 species of mammals and 300 bird species. It is also a home for two different species of marine turtles which are already in danger of extinction.

The tour departs from Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen or Cancun.  The Sian Ka’an multisport adventure tour is a full day tour with medium physical demand.   As soon as you arrive the reserve, you will begin the day by kayaking through the wetland and the Mayan channels and see pristine mangroves.  You will see and admire a wide variety of bird species that are nesting in this area.  Then you will be taken to hike through the coastal dunes that lead to the marvelous beach.

Before leaving the reserve, you should not miss the chance to swim and snorkel in a cenote.  This is one of the must-do activities when visiting the Sian Ka’an biosphere.

There are a lot of cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula. Cenotes are natural sinkholes or caverns, connected to an endless system of underground-rivers.  Grab a mask and a snorkel to explore this amazing underwater system.

Then you will head back to Tulum where a fish, beef or chicken lunch of your choice awaits to satisfy your palate before you return to your hotel.
