The Tour
You can visit Chichen Itza from Cozumel on a beautiful VIP tour including a 45 minute Round Trip flight from Cozumel Airport. The other option is to cross to Playa del Carmen by ferry from where a private ground transfer brings you to Chichen Itza.
The distance from Playa del Carmen to Chichen Itza is around 3 hours by ground transfer one way, which is why the scenic 45 minutes flight is a great alternative! Especially if you are staying at Cozumel Island the Chichen Itza with Flight Tour is your best option to avoid the ferry crossings and long drives.
Both tour options include transportation, entrance fees, guided tour of Chichen Itza, buffet lunch and refreshing swim at a Mayan sinkhole.
Chichen Itza Tour by Air from Cozumel
The tour by air has its meeting point at Cozumel Airport at 8:00 am. This departure time gives us the chance to reach the Chichen Itza ruins before the crowds get there!
Getting to the airport is easy by taxi from anywhere on the island.
The tour takes off with a scenic flight over the Yucatan Peninsula in a small aircraft. You will fly low enough to enjoy spectacular views!
After having landed on Chichen Itza’s airstrip you will be transferred to the ruins for an unforgettable 2 to 2.5 hr guided tour.
The tour continues to visit a stunning cenote or Mayan sinkhole where you are invited to swim in its revitalizing cool, underground water before you are welcomed to join a delicious Mexican buffet lunch. The buffet offers a choice of fresh fish, chicken, meat and vegetarian dishes.
You then return to the airfield for your flight back to Cozumel.You will be back at Cozumel Airport at around 3 pm.

The flight from Cozumel to Chichen Itza and back has a height of 1500 - 2500 feet which is a low flight. To be extra sure there is no problem for divers, the local hyperbaric chamber recommends 12 hours between your last recreational, no-decompression dive and the flight to Chichen Itza. Normal dives on Cozumel are no-decompression dives; you can enjoy a normal day of diving before taking the Chichen Itza by Air Tour! You should be out of the water at 7 pm the day before the flight; night dives are not recommended on the night before this tour. As you probably know, there is no problem with diving after flying.
Chichen Itza Tour by Land from Cozumel
This ground tour starts from the ferry dock at Playa del Carmen. This way you purchase your own ferry tickets and are able to choose with which company you return to Cozumel. (There are 2 alternating companies between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel).
A private air-conditioned ground transfer will bring you to Chichen Itza in about 3 hours. You will enjoy an unforgettable tour of Chichen Itza ruins with a guided tour in English for your small group (max. 15 passengers).
The tour continues to visit a stunning cenote or Mayan sinkhole where you are invited to swim in its revitalizing cool, underground water before you are welcomed to join a delicious Mexican buffet lunch. The buffet offers a choice of fresh fish, chicken, meat and vegetarian dishes.
After lunch you will drive back to Playa del Carmen (3 hrs approx.) stopping at the beautiful colonial town of Valladolid on the way where you have 30 minutes free time to explore the town and stretch your legs. You will arrive back to Playa del Carmen at around 7 pm.
Ferries back to Cozumel run until 10 pm. You may take pleasure in spending a few hours at Playa del Carmen before heading back to the island.
