Tour Information

The Tour

A totally unique Mayan tour experience in the shadow of one of the largest Mayan Ruins sites of Mexico is Cobá. This site remains one of the "hidden gems" of Mayan history and is home to the still climbable largest Pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula.

The view of the rainforest is breath-taking!

We start by taking a bike tour of the Cobá ruins, where your guide will open your eyes to the magnificent Mayan empire.

There are dedicated bicycle parkings at every major temple complex. Instead of using bicycles you can also choose for a three-wheeled tricycle pedicab, or hike the couple of kilometers to the Grand Pyramid, making several pleasant stops along the way to watch birds by the lake, inspect a ball court, and discover other ruins.

You will visit a Mayan ceramics workshop, where you can learn to make pottery in the traditional way, just as the local people do!

Next up is dinner by sunset on the second floor of the lagoon-side restaurant, spectacular! You'll enjoy live music during dinner before witnessing an exciting Mayan show taking place inside a cenote featuring a Mayan ballgame and more. Quite a different experience from any other tour!

Included in the Tour:

  • Visit of Coba
  • 2 hours guided tour
  • Bikes and bottles of water
  • Craftworkshop
  • Typical Mayan Dinner

Price:

US$ 99.00 for adults and children above 12 years old

US$ 69.00 for children between 6 and 12 years. (Minimum age for this tour is 6 years.)

Not Included in the Tour: Beverages during dinner

What to Bring:

It is recommended to eat well before starting the tour and to wear comfortable closed shoes (we do not recommend sandals) and comfortable clothing for the bicycle ride. In addition you should bring: A change of clothes, sunglasses and a hat, sunscreen lotion, mosquito repellent, pocket money for souvenirs, tips and drinks.

Background

Nohoch Mul at Coba

One of the most striking structures is Nohoch Mul, a tower of rock steps creating a staircase up a mountain. It's the tallest structure in the area, taller than pyramids at Chichen Itza and Uxmal. The stairs are steep but not too difficult, with an incredible view as a reward for the light mountaineering work: a carpet of green broken in the foreground by a couple of the nearby ruins and the expanse of jungle extending to the horizon.

Ancient Mayan Traditions

Coba-Adventure-...

The ancient traditions of the Maya are still widely used throughout the local communities and have left an everlasting impression.
