The Photo Safari is designed to give amateurs and professional photographers the opportunity to capture the magnificent wildlife of one of the most beautiful biosphere reserves in the Yucatan Peninsula on film. You will be accompanied by an expert wildlife photographer who will help you to take the best shots of this extraordinary location.

The Rio Lagartos Biosphere Reserve is located on the north shore of the Yucatan Peninsula. The reserve covers mangrove forests, coastal dunes, low forest and savannas. Its coastal lagoons are habitats for an enormous colony of Pink Flamingos and other migratory and local birds. Up to 350 bird species, 56 mammals, 95 reptiles and amphibians have been recorded in the reserve. The wetlands of Rio Lagartos Reserve are home of white tailed deer, crocodiles, jaguars and spider monkeys.

The landscape of pink lakes and biodiversity provides once in a life time photo moments. You will be amazed with the outcome of your shots! This exciting journey starts at the moment of pick up where you will be given a presentation of the photo expedition and a briefing about the great photographic opportunities that await you.

Upon arrival to the reserve, you will start walking through pristine wetlands, marsh and tropical forest, habitat of a wide diversity of endemic and endangered species. You will have the opportunity to do macro photo shootings of diverse plant and insect species. At the end of the hike you will come to a beautiful spring. A panoramic tower offers you a world class bird’s-eye view of this stunning landscape.

You will then enjoy an appetizing fresh seafood lunch in a charming local restaurant with views over the beautiful coast. Pink flamingos may appear at any time!

After lunch you will venture aboard a small boat that takes you through mangrove canals. You will be able to get amazing shots of a great diversity of wildlife species such as white and brown pelicans, herons, ibises, wood stork, crocodiles, cormorants and of course the breathtaking spectacle of flocks of pink flamingos on a blue sky.
